Bio
Matthias Waldkirch is EBS Alumni Chair for Family-Owned Firms and Founder of the Entrepreneurship & Family Firm Institute (EFFI) at EBS University, Germany’s oldest private business school. He holds a PhD from Jönköping International Business School, Sweden, and was, amongst others, a visiting researcher at Stanford University, the University of British Columbia, and Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Over the past decade, Matthias has been engaged in research projects in close collaboration with owner families and their organizations. From questions surrounding professionalization processes, innovation and venturing to broader dynamics around impact through ownership, Matthias’ research provides insights into how family firms can renew themselves. His work has been featured in diverse media outlets and journals, and he is an associate editor at the Family Business Review.
